Texture Mods - Lesson 1.0 Tutorial Series Overview
Transcript
Hello! I am Peter Chordash here with MLPTF2Mods.com for this tutorial series on how to create texture mods for Team Fortress 2. This video of course just being an introduction to the series as a whole, setting your expectations for things to come, and what you might like to know going forward.
First thing I wish to bring to your attention is that if at any point you cannot understand the words the words coming out of my mouth, don’t hesitate to turn on closed captions for any of these videos. We uploaded the transcripts so it’s not just auto-transcribing the audio. Additionally, if your english is not the strongest, you may benefit from the built in translations provided by Google Translate.
Second other first thing, this is not, I repeat, this not a tutorial series that will teach you about texture mod design or how to use image editing programs. This is series that will outline the technical aspects behind creating these files and getting them in game. Besides, there are several other resources which would be better for learning how to use programs such as GIMP or Photoshop.
For this series, it is expected that you hold a basic competency in using your operating system. Specifically Windows, since the tools we end up using for extracting and creating VTF files only works on Windows. Those wishing to use OS X or Linux are out of luck for now. Returning to the point, I won’t be explicitly stating all basic actions that are happening on screen. This is being presented visually after all.
Also, this is a tutorial series. That means this is a set of related lessons that follow one after the other. Should you choose to skip any of these lessons or complete them out of order, you will likely skip over information which is important to deriving success from this series. Consider that before you choose to comment on not understanding something.
Related to the fact this is a tutorial series, I make mention of future video topics in the earlier lessons. It is quite possible those future videos may never exist since they will be done in the future. I do hope to continue these, however circumstances in the future may impede the completion of them. So try not to be too bitter if I end up lying to you.
The reason the videos are shot at the terrible resolution of 1280 by 720 is so that you can actually read what is happening. Additionally, I use my voice so that you can hear what is going on as I am doing it. Apologies for if you find it irritating or hard to understand at times. Feel free to mute me and use the closed captions should that become the case.
That effectively wraps up all you need to know at this time before diving into this thrilling tutorial series on creating texture mods for Team Fortress 2. Don’t mind my strange enthusiasm and informal nature in this overview video. The rest of the lessons going forward will be more formal in nature. Be sure to leave comments on any videos you need clarification on and like or dislike the videos that are helpful or useless. For a link to the background image, look in the video description or right below this video embedded on our site. I’ll see you in the next video overviewing section two.
